Right now

A good friend of mine asked me last night what I was thinking right now
Seeing myself in the mirror I saw my head tilt and raised my eye brow
Assuming last night to be this present time,
Here goes my non-relevant rhyme
Confused, tired, distraught and agitated
These are my current thoughts of which appeared unexpected
Let’s investigate
Confused ,
The term used when one describes a state of mind where one cannot relate
Tired ,
A physical or psychological feature of human nature that defines one’s mental state
Distraught,
Either an emotional reaction to an observed scene which shook the inner most parts of the person
Or
The crazed mental condition of ones’ mind that appears to have to explanatory reason
Agitated ,
When an external cause has upshot a negative reaction
From a relatively stable situation
These were thoughts of a night ago
Let us hope they were just there for show

I AM BLACK

I AM BLACK
NOT ONLY AS A COLOUR
BUT AS A RACE
I COME IN DIFFERENT SHADES
JET BLACK, MAHOGONY, CARAMEL, GALAXY AND EVEN TOFFEE BROWN
MY COLOUR IS NOT ALIEN
NOR DOES IT LOWER MY STATUE AS A HUMAN BEING
I EAT THE SAME MOUTH-WATERING AND SUCCULENT MEALS AS YOU
THE SAME RED BLOOD COURSES THROUGH OUR VEINS
I AM BLACK
THIS IS NEITHER A TITLE NOR A PROCLAMATION
THIS IS A FACT
A FACT WITH A STORY
A STORY THAT HAS BEEN CIRCULATING THROUGH THE UNDERBELLY OF HISTORY
BURSTING TO REVEAL ITSELF AND ALL ITS SECRETS
WHERE SHOULD WE START
WE ARE NOT JUST A COLOUR
WE ARE A PEOPLE
WE ARE A UNITED FRONT
BUT INDIVIDUALLY WE STAND FIRM AS AN OAK TREE
NOT PHAZED BY THE MAYHEM AND CONSTANT BOMBARDMENT THIS WORLD HAS TO OFFER
ALL THESE YEARS OF SLAVERY AND OPPRESSION HAS NOT TARNISHED OUR FLAWLESS LOVE AND DEVOTION TOWARDS OUR SKIN COLOUR
DAY BY DAY WE STRUGGLED
BUT OUR FAITH IN GOD NEVER FAILED
THE GREAT LEGENDS THAT BECAME MARTYRS
THEIR NAMES DEEPLY IMPLANTED IN OUR HISTORY
LIKES OF MALCOLM X, MLK JNR, JESSE OWENS, MARCUS GARVEY AND THE LIST IS EVER GROWING
THEY SMASHED THE CHAINS THAT WERE HOLDING US BACK
AND OPEN THE PATHWAY FOR OUR NEXT GENERATION TO PROSPER

YES I AM BLACK
OR SHOULD I SAY …
YES WE ARE BLACK
BUT BLACK DOES NOT STAND ALONE
JUST AS BLACK IS CONJURED UP BY A MIXTURE OF DIFFERENT COLOURS
SO IS THE PLANET WE CALL EARTH
WHICH FROM SPACE
RESEMBLES AN ARTIST’S PAINT PALLET
A COMBINATION OF VARIOUS COLOURS
WITH ALL THEIR MOLECULES JOINING TOGETHER
TO FORM THE MAGNIFICENT SPECTACLE WE LIVE IN
SO INDEED WE ARE BLACK
AND OUR HISTORY TELLS A STORY
BUT IT DOES NOT DEFINE US
JUST AS WTHIN THE COLOUR SPECTRUM NO COLOUR STANDS ALONE
NEITHER SHALL THESE BEINGS BASKED IN THIS BEAUTIFULL BLACK SKIN BE LONELY ISLANDS
WE MUST THEN EMBRACE THE FLURRY OF COLOURS THAT WE ARE BLESSED WITH
FOR IT IS THIS INTRICATE FUSION THAT CREATED SUCH NATURAL BEAUTY
OF THE NATIONS PROUD COLOURS
AS A MIRAGE OF A GLISTENING RAINBOW

BUT
TAKE HEED OF ONE CRUCIAL FACT
WE
WILL ALWAYS BE PROUD TO PROCLAIM
TO THE HEAVENS
AND TO ALL
THAT

WE ARE BLACK!

SHE = ME

I know a woman
She is the strongest person in the world
She stands head above everyone I know
She is my guardian angel

My rock I lean on
And my knight and shinning armour
When times where tough she would smoothen the rough edges
She would put me right when I stray off the track
She has been my rock….
So it is time for me to be her anchor
She puts on a masquerade of happiness
But her false expressions of joy are transparent in my eyes
In my eyes she is a dormant volcano
Desperately stacking up her feelings in her impenetrable safe
But I feel her anguish as clear as Siamese twins feel each other’s pain
My strength grows as she heals
And dwindles as she aches
Her tears flow out of my eyes
Her blood through my veins
Her breathe is my breathe
I will carry her burden willingly
Take it upon myself to ensure her safety
Till the day she dwells in true tranquillity
Her angelic smile resurrected like the majestic phoenix from the ashes
Her soul basking in heavenly warmth
Worthy of True peace and happiness
A gift I happily trade my existence for
For she gave me life
Warmth… Family…Peace…Hope and Love
I am a reincarnation of her

She is me
She is my MOTHER

CLAIM TO FAME

When you cant TAME the heart that wants to CLAIM the FAME you realise that would give NAME to the life you AIM to PROCLAIM
Your mastered art will enable you to live a life where your rightful wish is not to be another PLAIN being.

Leaving a mark on the very world you will one day live behind, you become a living legend
Somewhat a symbol of accomplishment and success
A makeshift Clark Kent aspiring to be the Man of Steel himself making an impact in the lives of those who look up to them.

Now we in the 21st century, fame a GAME played by millions, wanting it for the power money and glory that accompanies.

When being who you are isn’t enough, but we must nowcamouflage our true selves in this fake appearance
One that is accepted and wildly jeered by its adoring fans
The same adoring fans who conveniently “forgot” to show their allegiance when your name was nothing but a group of letters tied together to form an unidentified name
‘Allegiance’, ‘Loyalty’ these are nothing but boomerangs
Just propelled from one end to another, used as a children figurine
You stare at yourself; a figure glaring straight back wields a familiar aura
Alas this aura is modified, changed to fit the world’s expectations
You are unable to recognise yourself…a mere reflection of ones’ former glory
Feelings of desperation and loneliness creep in
You want out!
OUT ... OUT … OUT … is your only desire
But your own claim to fame soon plots your demise
Its over… OVER…OVER…
You are trapped, trapped in this world-absorbed fame
Nothing genuine, nothing real
In a blink of an eye it collapses
All the Jenga pieces comes tumbling down
Your empire…Your sanctuary…all gone…
C’EST FINI

Dear Brain

Remember the hardships of our time together?
Remember how we fought the wretched weather?
we've always thanked whoever lent a helping hand
whether it was God or man

Whenever we didn't appreciate
The aid that we were given
Our conscience would writhe and ache
for that wrong that we were doing

Lest you cause a loving man
To become ignorant of others' pain
And more from the road he's on
Onto a selfish lane

Make sure to love and hug
The ones held dear to your heart
And show the love of God
Placed in you at the start

TEARS OF THE EARTH

In a car with family under the rain
But in truth their warm embrace fails to cover the pain
The tears of this world reflect my inner being
Of heartache and sorrow that reigns supreme

Why, 理由を, Pourquoi, Porque are the questions that saturate my mind

The words of my emotions eager to break free from their incarceration
Bringing to surface all that was locked up beneath this false self-illustration
Of all the heartbreaks, disappointments and betrayals so common in this human race

Sitting in this car waiting…
For someone or something to free me from this prison
Out of the blue the words of the Bishop echoed through my soul
A distinctive sensation gripped hold
Questioning the very existence of which I had yet to behold

What is this feeling?
Erupting through this skeleton interior of mine
As though new life has been breathed into my lungs
Is this what they call a Revelation?
The feeling of spiritual rebirth and God’s presence flowing throughout my entire anatomy
The Lord has granted freedom to this caged body
Releasing me from this self-imprisonment of my doubts, disbelief and fears
His grace has put me through a form of metamorphism
Now the tears of the earth don’t reflect my pain
But instead are the everlasting blessings of the Lord in the form of rain

SELF- PITY

I am what I am because I choose to be
I am what I am because you deserted me
Left me with an empty heart of hate and misery
Unable to live life and sworn to destiny
Where is hope?
Swallowed up by this gluttonous world
A world filled with those who only take
With no consideration for the needy and paupers who’s ache
Don’t be fooled by my assured exterior
For deep within I am weak and inferior
Self-pitying oneself to the point of no self-redemption
Even worse than a tumour that slowly devours ones cells
This devours ones soul
Until all that remains is the empty carcass of a lifeless being
Just awaiting for the day of liberation
The day when this gluttonous world finally feasts on this isolated shell
Then suddenly time ceases with the setting of the sun
As Self-pity engulfs another hopeless victim
